Höss Neuschwansteiner Das Echte
I am reviewing the Höss holiday pack, which contains 3 beers for $12.95. Only one is available separately, which is the Höss Doppel-Hirsch we've already reviewed.
As with the other two bottles in the gift pack, this one is a swing-top 500 mL bottle. This is also known as the Helles Lager or Bavarian Lager, and is 4.7% ABV.
What can I say about this? Germans are great at making lagers that I like. They tend to be competent and reliable, but rarely distinctive. This is more of the same. A light golden color with a thin head and moderate carbonation. The taste is typical, with some grain and grassy flavors. There is no metallic taste, which can often show up in this type of beer, and the finish is light, with a very slight bitterness from the hops and stronger grass flavors than the average lager. Overall, it is nice, but not nice enough to distinguish itself from the many other similar beers.
Scores:
Cost - $12.95 for 3 500 mL bottles in a gift pack
Taste - 7.5/10
ABV - 4.7%
Overall - 7.5/10...a decent German lager with a refreshing taste and some flavor

Not sure. In Canada you cannot buy alcohol online (at least in most provinces).
