Unibroue Maudite Review

I finally found a bottle of Unibroue's Maudite, deemed as one of the best Canadian beers. If you can find it in stores, a 750 mL bottle will set you back $5.45 CAD.

The beer has a nice medium brown/reddish color and pours with a short to medium head. The aroma is sweet and fruity with a distant floral note. The taste starts off sweet, but finishes on a bitter, hoppy note. Spicy and nutty notes can also be detected in the flavour. The finish is long, warm and much more balanced than any of the other Unibroue brews I have tried. The 8% ABV is well masked by the flavours so be careful when drinking a whole bottle by yourself. Each bottle has an alcohol content equivalent to 3.6 bottles of your typical 5% lager. Overall this is the best Unibroue beer I have had and the warm sensation from the finish is a great experience.

Scores:
Cost - $5.45 CAD for a 750 mL bottle
Taste - 8/10

Overall - 8/10...a great, well balanced strong beer from Unibroue
