Cannery Breweing Blackberry Porter Review

Another new LCBO arrival, this one from B.C. and retails for $5.90...but at least it comes in a 650 mL bottle.

Being a porter, it has a dark brown, almost black color and pours with a short tan head. The aroma is a mix of berries, vanilla, chocolate and some coffee. It also has a sweet creamy tone to it, which reminds me a lot of a root beer float. Though it smells fruity, its taste is actually very porter-like with a mild and pleasant berry touch to it, which is more noticeable in the finish. Coffee is the predominant flavour, but some chocolate notes do come up. The finish is mildly hoppy, a little dry with hints of berries. The finish becomes warm after several slow and long sips, which gets extra points from me. I did not notice the higher alcohol content, 6.5%, in the taste at any point, but I did drink it slowly. Pretty solid porter and I would buy it again in the future.

Scores:
Cost - $5.90 for a 650 mL bottle
Taste - 8.2/10

Overall - 8.2/10...a pretty solid porter with a pleasant berry aroma and an enjoyable mild berry finish
