Double Trouble Hops and Robbers IPA Review
I have had Hops and Robbers before on tap at the Burger Bar so of course I was very excited when the cans appeared at LCBO. Now everyone can try a pint for $2.75.
The beer has a hazy golden color and pours with a medium thick head which leaves quite a bit of lacing behind as it recedes. The aroma is somewhere between and English style IPA and an American one with a moderate hop character, caramel and citrus. The mouthfeel is lighter than what one would expect but goes well with the hot weather. Light caramel and hops are present as well as some grassy notes. The finish is bittersweet with a bit of hops, caramel and citrus.
Overall, I feel like this is a pretty light IPA that many will enjoy in the summer. For those who wish to transition to hoppier beers, this may be a great stepping stone. It offers enough hops without it being too hopped.
Cost - $2.75 for a can
Taste - 8/10
ABV - 5.7%
Overall - 8/10...great IPA for the summer
