St Peter's Winter Ale Review

I absolutely love the shape of these bottles. They fit quite nicely in my hand. Of course this is not cheap beer at $3.75 CAD per bottle, but it is a seasonal beer so it is not like you can get it any time of the year.

The beer has a very dark brown, almost black color and pours with a tan, espresso-like ring around the edge of the glass. The aroma is of sweet dried fruits with some coffee hints. Among the various scents, the strong scent of alcohol emerges. The beer is a little smoky, lightly carbonated and has an overpowering coffee/dark chocolate taste with hints of roasted malt. The finish is bitter, hoppy and slightly dry. Give it a rest and the sweet notes of dried fruits will announce their presence. This is a fairly nice beer with a lot of character. But be careful though, this is a strong beer and the higher alcohol content is concealed nicely.

Scores
Cost - $3.75 CAD for a 500 mL bottle
Taste - 8.1/10

Overall - 8.1/10...great character, a bit expensive
