Belhaven St Andrews Ale Review

Another day and another new beer from the LCBO. This is a rather pricey ale at $3.45 CAD for a 500 mL bottle, but looks promising.

The beer is dark amber/red in color and pours with a medium thick lacy head. It has a unique predominantly cider aroma. In the back sweet notes of malt and herbs are noticeable. The taste is rather different and unexpected. Roasted malt and nuts dominate here with dried fruits making an appearance from time to time. The finish is bitter and slightly dry, medium long and hoppy. This is a fine and typical ale, but is priced a little too high. The price/experience ratio is not the best.

Scores:
Cost - $3.45 CAD for a 500 mL bottle
Taste - 7.9/10

Overall - 7.9/10...not a bad beer, but the price is high and the experience does not justify it
