Mill Street Schleimhammer Roggenbier Review

Well, that was a long name to write. This is another new Mill Street brew on the shelves of LCBO. Though not really a new product, it is available for first time in bottles, each costing $2.20.

The beer is cloudy and has a dark amber/hazelnut brown color and pours with a thick creamy and lacy head, which takes its time receding to an off-white ring. The beer has a strong wheat aroma with noticeable notes of rye, cloves and spices. It has a rich mouth-feel and a very distinct rye bread-like taste. Some sweet notes can be tasted at the start, but quickly give way to cloves, spices and a bit of herbs. The finish is medium and warm with the same, distinct rye bread taste and a touch of cloves and nuts. This is a very good beer and here is how you can figure out if you will enjoy it. If you like the taste of rye bread, then yes, you will like this beer.

Scores:
Cost - $2.20 for a 355 mL bottle
Taste - 8/10

Overall - 8/10...solid Mill Street brew with a unique rye and clove taste
