Weisen Menthe Review

Yep, a mint beer, a $4.99 mint beer. I was really looking forward to trying this, unfortunately when I came home and the bottle opener made contact with the cap, the beer exploded. OK, the bottle did not explode, but about 1/3 of its contents were released into a powerful and continuous foam stream. Awesome, messy and unexpected.

The beer is light honey in color, hazy and pours with almost no head. The mint aroma is strong...surprisingly strong. But the minty aroma is not all, there is an added spicy/herbal tones. The taste is surprisingly great with a strong initial mint flavor followed by the herbs, spices and a nice hoppy twist. The finish is short to medium and has an initial refreshing minty/herbal tone which soon dies and gets replaced by mild hoppiness. The beer is very easy to drink as it has a light body and it is lightly carbonated and I can see myself having a few of these. On the negative side, it does lack some character, but its refreshing nature compensates a little.

Scores:
Cost - $4.99
Taste - 6/10
ABV - 5.5%

Overall - 6/10...lacks character, but it is so refreshing
