Rogue Northwestern Ale Review

Rogue's Northwestern Ale is the last of the Rogue beers I found, bought and tried.

The beer is hazy, brown with red hues and pours with a tan, medium thick, creamy and lacy head. Its aroma is intense, floral, bittersweet hoppy with raisins, citrus and pine. The taste is very bitter and hoppy yet it has a candy-like undertone. To me it was comparable to sucking on a sweet fruit candy while drinking a strong IPA. Some pine, honey and grapefruit notes are also noticeable, but are clearly overpowered by the bold hoppy flavor. The finish is bittersweet, hoppy with a bit of an initial candy sweetness, which seems to die quickly. The hops, though, do linger for a long time and that is a huge plus in my book.

If you did not have the chance to score a Northwestern Ale, I would compare the taste to Flying Monkey's Netherworld Ale combined with their Smashbomb. Top notch beer here.

Scores:
Cost - $6.40
Taste - 8.9/10
ABV - 5.9%

Overall - 8.9/10...great stuff
