Box Steam Brewery Funnel Blower Review

I bet you that there is at least one engineer working at the Box Steam Brewery. The label is a favorite of mine and is always able to attract my attention. Not only that, but the "engineered by hand" slogan seals the deal. But of course, the little steam that is coming out of the label also adds a really nice and subtle detail.

You have to play around with the bottle until you spot the type of beer it is. To save you the 2 seconds it will take you to identify the type of beer this is, I will tell you right away that this is a porter, which has a very dark brown raisin color with some subtle red hues. There is almost no head, just a tan ring around the edges of the glass. The aroma is of sweet dried fruits, some cake, smoked roasted malt and a nice mocha twist. The taste is just impressive with multiple flavour layers, though just a tad watery at the start. There is roasted malt, with a bot of smoke, cocoa bitterness and a nice mocha finish that is just a bit sweet. The roasted notes linger for a long time, but I do enjoy such a finish.

Though a tad watery, this porter is pretty good.

Scores:
Cost - $3.55
Taste - 7.9/10
ABV - 4.5%

Overall - 7.9/10...fantastic aroma, bold taste, but a bit watery
