Affligem Blond Review
A few months ago I tried the Dubbel and liked it very much, but had a hard time locating a bottle of Blond. Last week my luck changed and I found some at an LCBO store. Affligem Blond retails for $2.55 CAD per bottle, $0.20 cheaper than the Dubbel one.
Unlike the Dubbel, I had no problems opening this bottle. The beer pours with a medium thick, creamy in the middle head. It is amber in color and since this is a bottle conditioned beer, it is cloudy. The aroma is comprised of sweet malt, citrus and some fruits. The beer has a medium body and the taste starts off sweet with subtle hints of malt and fruits, but finishes on a spicy, dry, bitter and hoppy note. The finish medium long and pleasantly warm. The 6.8% ABV is masked nicely and is not noticeable in the flavour or the aroma. Great beer, but I prefer Affligem Dubbel.
Scores:
Cost - $2.55 CAD for a 330mL bottle
Taste - 7.8/10
Overall - 7.8/10...great Belgian beer with a fantastic finish
