Kaiser Beer Review

Today I am trying a cheap beer - Kaiser. Kaiser comes from Austria so I expect a certain quality, even for a cheap beer. A 500 mL can costs $1.95 at the LCBO and you should be able to find it in most stores.

The beer has the typical German/Austrian lager characteristics - it is light gold in color and pours with a medium to thick creamy head, which takes a bit of time to recede. The aroma is also typical for the type of beer with light malt notes and a touch of hops in the distance. The taste is mostly light but very well balanced. Some malt at the start and hops at the end. The finish is short to medium and very crisp. Towards the end of the can, a certain sour alcoholic taste becomes apparent. Overall this is a very light beer which will appeal to those who are trying to move up from the domestic macrobrews.

Scores:
Cost - $1.95 CAD for a 500 mL can
Taste - 6.7/10

Overall - 6.7/10...great light tasting beer with an affordable price tag
