Brakspear Triple Review
Here is another new product that appeared at the local LCBO. It actually appeared there more than a week ago, but I just didn't have the time to review it until tonight. The bottle costs $3.35, which is just below the expensive range of beers.
The beer is dark amber/dark walnut brown in color and pours with a thin head. The aroma is very sweet with hints of dried fruits, honey, oak and a distant whiskey note. The taste is much better than expected with a start similar to the sweet aroma when dried fruit and honey notes come out, followed by a more mellow and balanced malty and hoppy middle and end. The finish is medium to long and turns from slightly hoppy and warm to sweet and spicy. Overall, this is an amazing sipper and the 7.2% ABV is masked very nicely. On the plus side, you do get a lot of beer for the $3.35.
Scores:
Cost - $3.35 for a 500 mL bottle
Taste - 8/10
Overall - 8/10...complex yet very enjoyable sipper
