After I went to the local Oktoberfest, I stumbled to the nearest LCBO the next morning for something to continue the weekend with. Luckily I came across one of only two 6 packs of Samuel Adams' Octoberfest brew which retailed for $13.55 each.
Unlike the piss colored cheap domestic beer I had pitchers of to keep the fun going, Samuel Adams' Octoberfest beer has a deep amber color with some honey tones and pours with a short to medium, creamy head. Its aroma has a very standard lager tones, but it is much richer...a lot like Brooklyn Lager. The taste is just as rich with toasted malt, nuts and hops, but it does have a slightly sour copper taste which dings the experience a little. The finish is short to medium with a hint of nuts and some hops. Overall, this is a very solid brew you can share with friends, but it could have some more character and get rid of that coppery taste.
Scores:
Cost - $13.55 for a 6 pack
Taste - 8/10
Overall - 8/10...solid, but I do prefer the Boston Lager as a sit-down-and-enjoy-many-of beer
