Today I am taking a break from beers and having some some. Yesterday I picked up a bottle of 2007 Auka Malbec for $12.95.
The wine has a very deep ruby red color with some purple tones near the edge of the glass. The aroma is very intense and though the alcohol scent is strong, woody/oaky, plum notes come out from underneath. The taste is mellow and the wine goes down smoothly. Berries and plums, a touch of tobacco and oak are all present, but in well balanced proportions. The finish is tart and just a touch citrusy. Though the wine is fairly strong, it doesn't taste like it is.
Scores:
Cost - $12.95 for a 750 mL bottle
Taste - 8.5/10
ABV - 13.9%
Overall - 8.5/10...strong, yet smooth
where did you get the 2007? I've been searching for it.
ReplyDeleteGot it from one of the LCBO's in Waterloo, a little more than a month ago.
