Rogue Chipotle Ale Review

I am not a huge fan of spicy beers, but when there is a Rogue beer at the LCBO, I have to try it. The Chipotle Ale is one of the 6 Rogue beers the LCBO rolled out in June in a campaign similar to the Norrebro one.

The beer is hazy with a deep amber color and pours with a short head. It has a mild sweet malty aroma with a roasted pepper tone. The taste is similarly malty with a mild roasted chipotle note. Unlike other spicy ales, it does not hit you all at once, but the spice does build up over time. Don't be a afraid, it is not as spicy as you might think. The finish is also malty with more roasted peppers. There is a bit of dull sweetness, but it is overpowered by the pepper taste.

Overall, this is not a bad introductory beer to the spicy beer side, but it is not my cup of tea.

Scores:
Cost - $6.40
Taste - 6.8/10
ABV - 5%

Overall - 6.8/10...very mild, malty with roasted peppers
