Rogue Somer Orange Honey Ale Review

Second Rogue I was able to find

Very hazy with a pale orange color and a short head which quickly recedes. From the moment it hits the glass, strong wheat aroma with spices and herbs starts to fill the air around it. Upon closer inspection, sweet orange notes appear as well as a bit of yeast.

The taste is more malty than wheaty with some orange and coriander and a touch of hops. The finish is very smooth and enjoyable with notes of sweet orange, honey and just a touch of chamomile at the end.

Yes, chamomile! When I first read the ingredients before drinking this beer, I notice chamomile is part of the ingredients, but I dismissed it as being part of the flavour. To my surprise, the chamomile is noticeable in the finish and helps mellow it out.

Overall, a very enjoyable summer beer that is low on the wheat flavour and perfect for those who are not huge fans of wheat-heavy summer beers.

Scores:
Cost - $6.20
Taste - 7.7/10
ABV - 5.2%

Overall - 7.8/10...a bonus 0.1 for the smooth finish
