Marcus James Malbec Review
Seeing how I have only been drinking beer in the past few weeks, I decided to get a bottle of red wine. Of course I got a malbec. There are so many on the market, most under $10 CAD, and offer a great taste. The Marcus James Malbec goes for $9.45 CAD at the LCBO and is 12.7% alcohol by volume.
The wine has a deep red color, but it is not as dark as some other malbecs as some light can be seen around the edges of the glass. It has a pleasant sweet berry aroma. The flavour is the same. There is a distant hint of sweet berries. The finish is dry and medium bodied. It is a fairly
enjoyable red wine for under $10, which might appeal to some people more than other malbecs because of the sweet berries hint and the overall lightness.
Scores:
Cost - $9.45 CAD
Taste - 8.2/10
Overall - 8.2/10...better than the Trapiche Malbec, but not as good as the Trapiche Reserve Malbec

This is the cheapest wine available at my cornerstore at $3.99, and by far the best value. I've been consistently emptying bottles of this stuff into myself, and I've never felt the urge to spend more than twice as much for an only marginally better wine. Stick to the malbec though - the other Marcus James varieties aren't as fortunate.
ReplyDeleteI love this wine but can't find it on the shelf anymore in the lcbo. I'm told they're not making it anymore. :(
ReplyDeleteNot sure, but you are right, I cannot find it anymore.
