Hop Nouveau 2011 Wet Hopped Pale Ale Review

It is that time of the year - hop harvest. And with hop harvest comes Trafalgar Ales & Meads new Hop Nouveau for the year 2011. You can check out the 2010 review here.

The beer is hazy (since it is unfiltered), has a light golden color and pours with a very short head. The aroma is biscuity and absolutely fantastic with a ton of hops, pine, roasted malt and some citrus. Unlike last year's Hop Nouveau, this years has a bit more punch to it, though still no where near some of the stronger tasting pales ales on the market.

On the plus side, the beer tastes fresh and the hops come right out. Pine, biscuit and roasted malt are present and make up most of the flavour. Citrus comes near the end and is present in the finish. The finish itself is dry and bittersweet, though more bitter than sweet.

Overall, I like this year's Hop Nouveau better than last years.

Scores:
Cost - $5.95
Taste -7.8/10
ABV - 5%

Overall - 7.8/10...better than last year's, but still not as bold as some other pale ales on the market
