Black Creek Porter Review

I got this fine looking bottle of porter last weekend from a nearby LCBO store that occasionally has some random single beers on its shelves. The bottle costs $3.55 for those who are lucky enough to find it.

The porter has a very dark walnut brown color with dark red tones. It pours smoothly without a head and has a toasted malt aroma filled with notes of sweet dried fruits and coffee. It is lightly carbonated, but goes down easy. It has a solid toasted/burnt taste which could be made bolder. Most of the toasted flavour comes out in the finish and lingers for a while. Hints of coffee, nuts, chocolate and even some dried fruits can be noticed in the taste and finish. Overall the porter is pretty decent, but lacks boldness. On the brighter side, it is enjoyable and easy to drink.

Scores:
Cost - $3.55 for a 500 mL bottle
Taste - 7.7/10
ABV - 5%

Overall - 7.7/10...easy to drink, but could be bolder

  1. What? This beer has no carbonation and tastes like burnt toast with water. No body, little evidence of hops. It's a drain beer.
